Corteza 2nd in Guinness 9-Ball Jakarta leg

Filipino cue master Lee Van Corteza's campaign in the Jakarta leg of the 2007 Guinness 9-Ball Tour ended in a disaster Sunday night. Corteza just could not get his game going in the title round and when he finally did, he was called for a foul as the sleeves of his shirt got tangled with ball No. 8 in the 11th rack, providing the way for eventual champion Chang Jun Lin of Chinese Taipei to post an 11-5 victory at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. Corteza was on his way to erasing Chang's 6-4 lead and on the verge of making a comeback in the game when the foul was called. That call paved the way for Chang to dominate Corteza, who lost whatever confidence he has going into that rack. Corteza, the newly minted Philippine national champion, entered the final round with a heart-stopping 13-11 victory over compatriot Dennis Orcollo while Chang reached the finals by defeating countryman Wu Chia-ching, 11-9, in the other semifinals match. - GMANews.TV
